Idaho Blue Cross - Consultant / Software Developer

Blue Cross needed help with a back-log of various projects including internal software applications and reports as well as updates and additional functionality for their website.

Hewlett Packard, Boise ID. - Software Engineer III 

At HP’s site in Boise; working on the Performance Team to create code developed in C# to run automated tests in virtual machines to measure performance of print engines. HP has large teams of hundreds of developers scattered over different sites in the world and continuous integration is used when developers check in code. It is the task of the performance tests to measure any performance differences against thresholds and previous metrics. It was my task to create and maintain a library of code to make these tests possible and to report on. I completed a repository based on business objects and xml files which can be queried via LINQ.  I also completed several tools for manual test team members to use, incorporating SNMP and other technologies to measure printer performance.

Caveo Corp, Boise ID. - Senior Software Engineer /Software Architect / Consultant

Worked on a framework utilizing Silverlight and ASP.NET. The framework is used for both the company’s web site and also a suite of software for clients to use to control security controls and video monitors. The applications are available both in and out of browser via SilverLight. There is also a standard ASP.NET / C# based system as a backup in case SilverLight may not be available to users.

Hewlett Packard, Boise ID. - Senior Software Engineer / Consultant

Worked on a team implementing the Tridion Content Management System on the HP Shopping web site.Developed an event manager system using COM, COM+ and C# .NET.The Tridion Content Management system is based on COM/COM+ technologies and had to use advanced techniques to create a Publish/Subscribe event management system.The event manager is used to extend the Tridion system functionality.Designed, coded and documented the system.

Umpqua Bank, Portland OR. - Senior Software Engineer

Helped out to redesign and bring up to date the Umpqua websites. The older websites were based on VB code and legacy ASP. Redesigned the system to use C# and ASP.NET 3.5 as well as make the site more dynamic with SQL Server and XML data driven pages.

URS – Washington Division – Boise ID - 8/2006 – 3/2009 - Manager, Software Development and Lead Software Engineer

Achievements at URS:

  • Built up and mentored a team of software developers, including Database, UI and Architecture specialists and documented the best practices for this team.
  • Set up and maintained a SharePoint Team & Project software development intranet site.
  • Created and documented a version of Agile Development Methodology suited to the URS IT environment and culture.
  • Directed the design of a suitable SOA based software development framework including Microsoft’s Entity Framework and WCF.
  • Directed the design of a U/I framework using WPF.
